Myers PALMYRA Jay Earl Myers, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Rebecca (Gluck) Myers. He was born Wednesday, March 6, 1929, in Palmyra, to late Benjamin B. and Fanny (Kreider) Myers. He was raised in Fontana and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during WWII and Korea. He was the former co-owner and operator of United Disposal in Elizabethtown, and retired from the waste management profession. He was a passionate musician, played the guitar, and enjoyed country music. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Hershey, Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682 F&AM, and obtained his 32 degree as a Mason. He is survived by five children, JaAnn Smith and husband, Richard of Quentin, Sabrina Swaim and husband, Phillip of Tucson, Ariz., Richard Myers and wife, Dana of Middletown, Melissa Burrous of Tigoa, and William Judy of Millersburg; seven grandchildren; one brother; and six sisters. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078 with Pastor Paul Haken officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Masonic services will be performed by Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682 F&AM. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
