Newmaster, Sr., 79, died Thursday October 20, 2011, in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Joan A. Peffley Newmaster, to whom he was married for 59 years. He was born in Lebanon, on July 9, 1932, a son of the late George and Magdalena Gerstner Newmaster. He had been employed by the Steffy Shoe Company for 41 years. He bowled at the Goodwill Lanes for many years and was a huge Lebanon Cedar sports fan. He was also an avid Phillies, Eagles and Penn State fan. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially attending and cheering for them during sporting events. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Richard J. Newmaster, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, Robert E. Newmaster, Mary Ann Newmaster, Barbara A., wife of Peter Seabold, Susan K., wife of Jacob Putt, and John E. Newmaster and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Jennifer Morris, Tracey, wife of Duane Smith, Lisa, wife of Patrick Hogan, Jaci, wife of Nathan Arnold, Jason Morris, Matthew Newmaster and wife, Amanda, Robert Nordall and wife, Jennifer, Alan Newmaster, Megan Newmaster, and Amy Nordall; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Julianna, wife of George Shaak, Sr.; brother, Joseph Newmaster and wife, Shirley; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Newmaster; and brothers, George and John Newmaster. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 25, at 2 p.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA 17042. There will be a viewing in the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 p.m.. to the time of service. Interment will be made in the Covenant Greenwood Cemetery.
