Niccolini HERSHEY Dino Paul Niccolini, 85, passed away on December 10, 2011 at the Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 17, 1926, in Luzerne County, Dino was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and also served his country in the World War II European Theatre. Dino was given multiple military medals, including the Purple Heart. Dino worked for the Hershey Chocolate Co. as a plumber/pipefitter and retired after 46 years of employment. Dino was a huge N.Y. Yankees fan, and loved watching Notre Dame Football. He was also a member of the Hershey Italian Lodge, a life long member of St. Joan of Arc Church, the St. Joan of Arc Areba Club, and a long term cafeteria volunteer for the St. Joan of Arc school. Dino was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Madeline Elmi Niccolini, his father Ruggero, his mother Irene, and his brothers Udio and Guido Niccolini. Surviving are his daughters, Irene Smith of Hershey, Andrea Redcay and husband Leonard of Palmyra, brother Alfred Niccolini and wife Ann of Hummelstown; a granddaughter, Janna Rose Good of Lebanon; a grandson, Daniel Paul Redcay of Palmyra; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Simone and Isabella Good; and his nephew, Francis Elmi of Garden City, Long Island, N.Y.; and his niece, Rosemary Elmi of Hershey. Dino was an extremely engaging, kind, selfless man and a friend to all that met him. He was a very devoted husband, father, uncle and Hershey employee. He greatly enjoyed family dinners, outings to the Hollywood Casino, Areba club bus trips with his wife, country music, playing bocce ball at the Italian Lodge, wood crafting projects, painting, building model ships, gardening, long walks, making home made wine with his family members, and a good game of golf with his brothers and friends. In his later years, he was the loving and perpetually devoted caregiver to his wife Madeline. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive visitors on Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. at the Hoover Funeral Home, Route 422 and Lucy Avenue, Hershey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, following the Mass.
