"Al Pal" Palkovic, 85, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Carol J. (Harter) Palkovic. Born in Lebanon, on November 22, 1925, Al was the son of the late Paul Palkovic and Mary (Kunik Rehak) Palkovic. At 17, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Sears in Lebanon and was an assistant manager for Cedar Lanes Bowling Alley for 35 years. After retiring, he worked at various golf courses in Lebanon County as a ranger. He was a member of the Valley Beach Swim Club, an avid golfer, and full time follower of local high school athletics. He is survived by three daughters, Lisa M., wife of Donald Collins of Centerville, S.D., Judy A., wife of Douglas Campbell of Cornwall, and Sandra L. Wilbern of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Smetana, Benjamin Smetana, Joshua Collins, Dakota Collins, Jennifer Collins, Ashley Collins, Megan Campbell, and Amanda Campbell; three brothers, Gabby Palkovic of Fredericksburg, Steve Palkovic of Lititz, and Joseph Palkovic of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. from Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 126 S. 9th St., Lebanon. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors. View hours Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
