Peffley, 79, the family matriarch, quietly passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, in the Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Peffley was born March 2, 1931, in Harrisburg, a daughter of the late Paul and Catherine (Kauffman) Metzger. She graduated from John Harris High School in 1949 and was a long time and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hershey. Her greatest joy was the nurturing relationship she shared with her family. She is survived by her adoring husband of 60 years, Wayne Peffley; her devoted daughters, Deborah Hamilton, wife of James, and Brenda Peffley, wife of Edward Smyser; grandchildren, James R. Hamilton and wife, Davian, Stacey Pitts, wife of Anthony, and Anna and Adam Smyser; great-grandchildren, Mason and Gabriel Pitts, and Hanna and Julie Hamilton; sisters, Janet, Pauline, Ruth, and Charlotte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., Hershey. Visitation with family will be ONE hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Lois may be made to her church. Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Hershey, is handling the arrangements.
