Reedy, II, 91, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011, at his home in Denton. He was born March 13, 1919, in Lebanon, to Walter W. (Senior) and Rebecca (Lentz) Reedy. He graduated from South Lebanon High School in 1937 and was drafted into the U.S. Army (Infantry) in June, 1941. Walt transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet in 1942 and earned his pilot wings in July, 1943. He flew 64 combat missions as a B-25 pilot based in Corsica during WWII and returned home in January, 1945. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in 1963 with a major in Military Science, and a minor in Math. Walt spent 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Major in 1965, followed by 15 years as a budget analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon. He retired from the Defense Department in 1981 and moved to Albuquerque, N.M., with his wife, Genevieve. While in New Mexico, Walt enjoyed traveling with his wife, gardening, painting Garfield and Snoopy pictures for his grandkids, and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed. In 2004, Walt and Genevieve moved to Denton, Texas, to be closer to family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minkey, in 1973, and his son, Mike Reedy, in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Denton, Texas; son, Tom of Southport, N.C.; daughter, Marianne and her husband, Mike Fenwick, and grandchildren, Dan, Matt, Katie, and Ben Fenwick, all of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Charlotte Bamberger of McAlisterville; daughter-in-law, Leslie Reedy, and grandchildren, Chris Reedy and Erin Weaver, all of Ephrata; and Genevieve's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. DeBerry Funeral Directors, Denton, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
