  William Roof 
  
  AUGUSTA, GA William "Bill" Roof, was born November 13, 1928, to the late 
  William and Alice (Achenbach) Roof of Lebanon, the eldest of seven children. 
  He met and married Shirley Fiddler to whom he was married for 48 years. From 
  this union five children were born, Michael, Richard (Janice) Roof, Cynthia 
  (Tom) Brown, Kim (Roy) Magnus and Pamela (Frank) Peterson. His wife, Shirley 
  and son, Michael preceded him in death. He had five brothers, John (Margaret), 
  Kenneth (Janet), Richard (Selma), Stanley (Joanne) and Allen (Kathryn) and one 
  sister, Gloria (Alvin) Traynor. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard 
  and Stanley. Bill was an avid bowler. He bowled with his brothers and they 
  were known as the "Fire Brother Bowlers". He also loved to golf, hunt and 
  fish. Bill served in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. 
  He served his community in Lebanon as a Fireman for Union One, as an EMT for 
  the First Aide and Safety Patrol, as a delivery person for MA's Root Beer, 
  where he acquired the nickname "Squirt". He also worked at the Veterans 
  Administrative Hospital prior to his relocation to Augusta, Ga. He also leaves 
  to mourn his passing a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was 
  preceded in death by a grandson, Tommy Brown, Jr. Funeral services were held 
  in Grovetown, Ga., on Saturday in Bellvue Memorial Gardens.
