Rothermel, 69, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, in his residence. He was the husband of Lorna B. 'Cookie' Rothermel to whom he was married for 45 years. He was born in Lebanon on January 2, 1942, a son of the late Robert W. and Mary Louise Hull Rothermel. He was a 1959 graduate of Lebanon High School and had been employed in various sales positions in the Lebanon Area for many years. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council. He was presently serving as the Lebanon County Democratic Jury Commissioner; chairman of the Lebanon County Service Extension Unit of the Salvation Army; member of the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center Authority; member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge #631; American Legion Post #158; Friendship Fire Company. He was a former member and vice-president of the Lebanon School Board; former member and vice-president of the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center Joint Operating Committee; former vice-chairman of the Lebanon County Democratic Club. In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Keith A. and wife, Lisa Rothermel, Brickerville, Karen L. wife of David Speece, Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Megan Rothermel, Meredith Rothermel, Luke Murray, Lindsay Murray; step-grandson, Ryan Speece; sister, Barbara Jean wife of Richard Eisenhour, Lebanon. Memorial services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046. There will be a luncheon and time of visitation immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church until 1 p.m. on Friday. Interment will be made at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery at Ft. Indiantown Gap following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church. The Rohland Funeral Home is honored to handle the arrangements.
