Rutt MANHEIM Ervin Burkholder Rutt, 78, entered into rest at Lancaster General Hospital, on Saturday, April 2, 2011, after a massive stroke. He was born in East Cocalico Township, a son of the late John N. and Lydia Burkholder Rutt. Ervin was the husband of Mary Elizabeth (Hursh) Rutt, to whom he shared 55 years of marriage this past March 3rd. Ervin was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Lititz, Weaverland Conference. He was a retired hog and steer farmer and worked for Manheim Auto Auction for the past 45 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are five sons, Delmar, husband of Nancy Martin Rutt of Savannah, N.Y., Jay Ervin, husband of Marian Martin Rutt of Womelsdorf, Lynford, husband of Erma High Rutt of Newmanstown, Joel, husband of Irene Fox Rutt of Manheim, Arlin, husband of Jody Martin Rutt of Grenada, West Indies; three daughters, Vanita, wife of Michael Martin of Bernville, LuAnne, wife of Harold Fox of Newmanstown, Rhoda, wife of Mark Wenger of Mifflinburg; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Rutt of Bernville; 55 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers, Elam Rutt of Ephrata, Earl Rutt of New Holland; sisters, Anna, wife of Irwin Zimmerman of Fleetwood, Alverta, wife of John Burkholder of East Earl, Leah, wife of Clair Zimmerman of Ephrata, Luella, wife of Glenn Zimmerman of Lebanon, Frances, wife of Phares Musser of Newmanstown, and Marlene, wife of Marlin Martin of Newmanstown. He was preceded in death by a son, Nevin and a grandson. A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Midway Reception Center, Lititz. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, from the Midway Reception Center, with further services at 9:30 a.m. at the Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Penn Township, with Bishop Lester B. Martin and ministers Henry Horning, Raymond Hoover, Ray Martin, and Noah Lamar Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
