Rutter, 71, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Engle) Rutter. On May 5, 2011, they would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Born in Lebanon, on February 8, 1940, he was the son of John and Leah (Kutz) Rutter of Jonestown. He retired in 2001 as a real estate broker and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid outdoorsman who hunted and fished from Maine to Florida. He was an expert pan fisherman, who enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, including running a fishing message board where he was known as "Panfish". In his later years he especially enjoyed fishing with his granddaughter, Katlyn. He also enjoyed golfing, reading, and had a passion for working with his computer. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his son, James D., husband of Michelle D. (Carr) Rutter of Lebanon; brothers, John Rutter, Jr. of Pine Grove, Amos Rutter of Phoenix, Ariz., and James Rutter of Lebanon; sister, Naomi L. Alspaugh of Jonestown; and three grandchildren, Katlyn, Bobby, and Brooke. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie (Rutter) Troutman. As per Jason's request, there will be no services.
