M. shabodeho@aol.com November 9, 2011, 8:50 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on November 1, 2011 Dorothy H. Saltzer LEBANON Dorothy "Dolly" H. Saltzer, 86, died Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. She was the wife of Karl N. Saltzer to whom she was married 66 years on March 24. Born in Lebanon, on November 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Walter S. and Violet H. (Huber) Van Winkle. She was a 1942 graduate of Lebanon High School. During the war, she built airplane engines at Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown, and in the 1960's, she worked at Hershey Foods. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Lebanon, an avid bowler and enjoyed being with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kendra wife of Scott Dechert of Lebanon; granddaughter, Rachael Dechert of Lebanon; sister, Gloria wife of William Rathfon of Hummelstown; brother, Glenn husband of Shirley Van Winkle of Hummelstown; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Sando and brothers, Walter Van Winkle, Jr. and Frederick Van Winkle. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 22 S. 6th St., Lebanon. Viewing Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church and Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
