Sechrist, 83, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, December 31, 2011. He was the husband of the late Joyce R. Marderness Sechrist. He was born in Millbach, on April 9, 1928, a son of the late Milton D. and Elsie Keller Sechrist. He was a retired 40 year employee of Wilbur Chocolate in Lititz and was co-owner of Sechrist Bros. Furniture Store in Schaefferstown for 32 1/2 years. Jonas was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Schaefferstown and the Schaefferstown Fire Police, where he served as chief for many years. He also enjoyed following NASCAR. He was a life member of the Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co., Rexmont Fire Co., and Friendship Fire Co. He is survived by daughters, Gloria "Cookie", wife of Eugene "Ted" Gettle of Schaefferstown, Gladys, wife of Earl Chapin, Sandra "Sandy" Sechrist, and Patricia, wife of Miguel Rodriquez, all of Lebanon; two grandsons; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, George, husband of Mary Sechrist of Newmanstown, and Edwin, husband of Dolly Sechrist of Schaefferstown; companion, Mary Grace Oxenreider; stepbrothers, David, husband of Gladys Rabold of Newmanstown, and Paul Sechrist of Elizabethtown; stepsisters, Lucille Engle of Dillsburg and Ruth Halblieb of Bainbridge; and godchild, Joshua Chase. He was preceded in death by brother, LeRoy Sechrist; stepbrothers, Donald Rabold and Eugene; stepsister, Alice; and great-granddaughter, Payton Krall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown, with a viewing on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in the Millbach Community Cemetery.
