Shaak, 88, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Stone Ridge- Towne Center, Myerstown. He was the husband of Alice J. (Hoffman) Shaak, who died December 5, 2006. Born in Strausstown, he was the son of the late Monroe W. and Mary J. (Smith) Shaak. He was a member of St. John's (Hain's) U.C.C. Wernersville. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, having served in WWII. He worked at the Wernersville State Hospital until retirement as a plasterer and mason. He is survived by two sisters, Helen widow of Harvey Eisenhauer, and Verdie M. widow of Gilbert Gassert; a step-daughter, Judy wife of Steven M. Enck; a step-son, William E. Larson; a son-in-law, James Swartz; three granddaughters; three step granddaughters; two step grandsons; one great- grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Swartz; and two brothers, Luther S. and Norman W. Shaak. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, at Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jon A. Fogle, officiating. Friends are invited to call 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hain's Church Cemetery, Wernersville.
