  Andrew C. "Andy" Shaffer 
  
  PALMYRA Andrew Clyde Shaffer, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, 
  December 15, 2011, at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. He 
  was born, July 25, 1955, in Lebanon, to the late Fred A. Shaffer and Mildred 
  C. Shaffer and was baptized at Trinity United Church of Christ, Palmyra. Andy 
  was a 1973 graduate of Palmyra Area High School. After graduation he enlisted 
  in the U.S. Army and served four years. In 1977, Andy began his career, which 
  spanned 30 years, working in various capacities in the construction field. At 
  the time of his death, he was employed by MCC Construction Corporation as a 
  construction manager overseeing a project in upstate New York. Andy was an 
  incredibly gifted and passionate artist and wood worker, and sold his works in 
  a gallery in Florida. He also had a love for riding his motorcycle and was an 
  avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines. Most of all, Andy had a kind heart and 
  always lent a hand to anyone in need. He will be missed by many. He is 
  survived by his three sisters, Kathy J. Fielder (Edward), Bel Air, Md., Lynn 
  Shaffer Bashore (William), Hershey, and Ann M. Stegner (Louis), Port 
  Charlotte, Fla., three nephews; James Fielder, Christopher Fielder and Joshua 
  Bashore, two nieces; Jamie Bashore-Watts and Jennifer Fielder and was a great-
  uncle to Addison and Avery Watts. Andy is also survived by an uncle and aunt; 
  Robert and Joanne Bennetch, Palmyra, and many cousins. Keeping with the wishes 
  of Andy, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
