  Rita Z. Shearer 
  
  HARRISBURG Rita Z. Shearer, 76, died peacefully at the Harrisburg Hospital 
  surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Born in Stouchsburg on March 
  18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Margaret (Wiest ) Zug. 
  Rita was a 1952 graduate of Myerstown High School and received a BA in teaching 
  from Elizabethtown College. She taught kindergarten for 32 years at Paxtonia 
  Elementary School. She was an avid traveler, having toured 40 countries during 
  her 54 year marriage to Light W. Shearer. She also enjoyed reading, playing 
  cards, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and numerous 
  friends. She will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and joy of 
  life. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she has touched. In addition 
  to her loving husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tracey S. Carper of 
  Harrisburg, and Holly S., wife of Edward Mihok of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, 
  Patricia Z., wife of William C. Gardner of Baltimore, Md., and Carol Z., wife 
  of Frederick P. Krott of Marion Twp.; and four grandchildren, Mallory N. 
  Carper, Garrett M. Carper, Olivia L. Mihok, and Luke E. Mihok. She was also 
  predeceased by her brother, John W. Zug. A memorial service will be held 
  Monday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at the Ridgeway Community Church of the Brethren, 
  525 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109, with the Rev. Elizabeth L. Bidgood 
  Enders officiating. Interment will be private at convenience of the family. 
  Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at 
  the church.
