Shellenhamer PALMYRA John Warren Shellenhamer, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Manor Care in Pottsville. He was born Sunday, March 22, 1931, in Union Deposit to the late Ralph P. and Harriet E. (Launse) Shellenhamer. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Unger) Shellenhamer. He graduated from Hummelstown High School Class of 1949, Thompson Business College, and served in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he earned several commendations including the Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star. He had worked for Hershey's Chocolate Company and was the owner and operator of Shellenhamer's Accounting in Palmyra. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9639 Shellsville, NRA and IGMR Conservation Club. He had a passion and honed skill for hunting that he employed all over the world, harvesting trophies from many different countries. His humor and zest for life will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, John W. Shellenhamer, Jr. of Annville and Ralph D. Shellenhamer and wife Karen of Mastersonville; a daughter, Deborah Francis and husband Peter of Washington; six grandchildren, John, Melissa and Mindy Shellenhamer, Janelle Vermeulen, Matthew and Warren Francis; three great-grandchildren, Jarrod Mussco, Brooke and Dillon Shellenhamer; two sisters, Jean Belleman and Georgine Tetzlof of Grantville. He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Keller; two sisters, Edith Porter and Gladys Bush. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 West Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Chaplain Ron Windle officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
