Shuba WASHINGTON, PA John Paul Shuba of Washington, Pa., formerly from Lebanon, and Atlanta, Ga., died December 6, 2011. John was born December 14, 1942, to Michael and Mary Shuba in Canonsburg. John grew up in Canonsburg and graduated from Cannon McMillan High School in 1960, and joined the Navy to serve our country with honor and pride. He went to boot camp in San Diego, Calif., and later served in Kodiak, Alaska and Lemoore Naval Air Station, California. He served on the U.S.S. Hancock CVA-19. After his time in the Navy, he went back to Canonsburg and worked briefly at Universal Cyclops Steel Corp and McGraw Edison as a draftsman. He later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas working for General Dynamics on the F111 fighter jet, and then took a job with Freight Master Division of Halliburton Company. On November 13, 1967, in Texas, he married the love of his life, Patty Darlene Greer. The marriage was blessed with two daughters, Tonya and Mary, and a son, Brian. He was transferred to Atlanta, Ga., as a field service engineer, and later transferred to Lebanon, as a sales service engineer. In 1985, he worked for DSL- Dynamic Science Limited introducing the end of train telemetry device to the marketplace. In 1996, he went to work for Freight Master Division/Florida Progress. His work ethic was tireless. His dedication to his family, friends, country, and to God, were without limit. John was a loving husband, father and friend. He was loved by all who were a part of his life. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed being outdoors. His greatest joy was being with family and sharing his love with his children and grandchildren. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to do anything for anybody-leaving a positive, lasting impression on those who called him friend. He is survived by his wife, Patty Darlene Shuba; daughters, Tonya Zerman and Mary Santiago; six grandchildren, Heather, Brandy, Zane, Brandin, Trevor, and Brian Jr.; and one great- grandchild; McKayla; three brothers and one sister; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved and only son, Brian John Shuba, Sr., late husband of his daughter-in-law, Jo Anna Shuba. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, in the Hummell and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, Supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, Director, where funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, with Reverend Dr. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Full military rites will be afforded by the United States Navy, and the American Legion Post #175.
