  WEST COLUMBIA, SC Charlotte L. Smith, 76, formerly of Lebanon and Ephrata, 
  died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late 
  Joseph J. Smith, Jr., who died August 23, 2003. Born in Mt. Penn, on January 
  24, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Agnes A. (Batdorf) 
  Wenger. She had been a nurses aide at Cedar Haven, Lebanon, for 20 years, 
  retiring in 1990. She was a member of St. John's UCC, Denver, PA; Order of the 
  Eastern Star, #115, Lebanon; White Shrine, #56, Lebanon and the Ladies Red Hat 
  Society (Royal Chickadees of Denver). She is survived by daughters, Charlene 
  Young of West Columbia, S.C., and Marie wife of Thomas Witchek of Hopkins, 
  S.C.; son, S. Michael husband of Sherri Keppley of Womelsdorf; nine 
  grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Ferne wife of Edwin Engle of 
  Denver; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday 
  at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home,358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Viewing 
  Friday at 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National 
  Cemetery, Annville.
