He was born on Friday, July 18, 1924, to the late Charles M. Smith and Mary Smith nee Spayd in Lebanon. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church. He owned Snavely Food Town in Jonestown. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II. He was a member of Friendship Fire Co. and VFW, and enjoyed crafts and karaoke at Cedar Haven. Surviving are wife, Louise M. Smith of Lebanon; son, Donald H. Smith, spouse of Catherine Mahady-Smith of Harrisburg; daughter, Kathy, spouse of Kenneth Allwein of Lebanon; and grandchildren, Kandice Messinger, Vladimir Smith, Nicholas Smith, Kasper Smith, and Sandis Smith. He was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard Smith and Charles Smith; and sisters, Dorothy Pence, Beatrice E. Keath, and Phyllis M. Wise. Visitation will be on Friday, June 3, 2011, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following the service.
