She was born to the late David C. and Alyce (Kulp) Bowman, August 15, 1935, in Harrisburg. Natalie graduated from Allentown High School in 1953, and from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 as an RN. Natalie was an RN at Plymouth Meeting Family Medicine and a volunteer for the Red Cross, Montgomery County Cultural Center, Mt. Gretna Art Show, and Meals on Wheels. She was a founding member of the Plymouth Meeting Church on the Mall, member of the Conshohocken Jr. Women's Club, and Chairman of ticketing and play-reading Committees for the Mt. Gretna Cicada Festival. Natalie described her home as having "elastic walls and revolving doors" as she opened her home to foreign exchange students along with refugees from Ukraine and Poland, whom she remained close with throughout her life. Despite being a world-traveler, Natalie's favorite place was the front porch of her family's Mt. Gretna cottage (circa 1896) where she would be surrounded by her garden, friends, and family. She and her husband of 55 years, Richard C. Smith, were season patrons and volunteers of the Gretna Theatre. She was an avid bowler, pianist, Bridge player, champion sewer, and choir member. The mother of four poured her love, energy and time to supporting the goals and dreams of her family. She is survived by her husband, Richard C. Smith (Norristown); her brother, David C. Bowman (Pleasantville, N.J.); four children, Douglas Smith (Norristown), Kenneth Smith (Perkasie), Virginia Isabella (Mechanicsburg), and Suzanne McCarrick, (Pottstown); her ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter. They will remember her for her passionate strong-will and gentle mentoring. A private funeral will be held for family and close friends. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at 7 p.m. at the Church on the Mall, Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Arrangements are by the Moore and Snear Funeral Home, Conshohocken, Pa.
