M. shabodeho@aol.com August 18, 2011, 9:08 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News from August 16 to August 17, 2011 Mercedes Steckbeck Deland, FL- Mercedes Steckbeck, 90, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Jospeh Steckbeck. Mercedes was born in Morovis, Puerto Rico, on April 15, 1921, a daughter of the late Juan Antonio and Isabelle (Davilla) Rivera. Mercedes was a factory worker and also a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, dancing and was a member of various local clubs. Mercedes is survived by two children, Margaret McElwee of Orange City, Fla., and Sherrie I. wife of Walter Rhoads of Millsboro, Del.; six grandchildren, Paul, Ken, Anne, Mike, Monty and Tama; lots of great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Benicio, Juan Antonio Jr., Alfredo, Tony, Eusebio, Aureo, Mario; three sisters, Sylvia, Maria and Delia; and many nieces and nephews. Mercedes was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, Francisco, Lydia, Adriano, Angel, Paula, Juan Manuel, Felipe, Amado, Artemio, Juan Antonio Sr. and Antonio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. 126 S. 9th St. Lebanon 17042. Interment will be on Holy Cross Cemetery. Viewing hours Thursday morning 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amercian Cancer Society.
