M. shabodeho@aol.com April 23, 2011, 3:33 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on April 22, 2011 James D. Stefonich VIRGINIA BEACH, VA James Daniel Stefonich, 69, quietly passed away April 20, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Frances Stefonich; his two daughters, from a previous marriage, Angela Stefonich Ford and Danielle Stefonich; and his step- daughter, Laurie Dole. He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren, Breeanna, Emily, Jacob, and Sawyer.Jim was born in Lebanon, to Martin Sr. and Anna Stefonich. He was the oldest of five children, Nicholas, Marie Garman, Rose Diaz, and Martin Jr. He is survived by his sisters.Upon graduating from Lebanon High School he enlisted at age 17 into United States Navy and served his country for 22 years. After retirement, he went back to school and later went to work for the Civil Service. He worked for the Naval Education and Training Command and retired as Director of the Norfolk Branch after 20 years of service.Jim was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending his free time with family and friends. He was actively involved in each phase of the lives of his grandchildren and doted on each of their achievements.The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
