Stickler Sr., 77, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011, in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded in the comfort of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Mary E. Claybaugh Stickler, to whom he was married 51 years. He was born in Lebanon, on August 16, 1933, son of the late Ira Stickler, Sr. and Katie Brubaker Stickler. He was a 1952 graduate of Lebanon High School where he was co-captain of the football team his senior year. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War, and was an active member of Tabor United Church of Christ, Lebanon. After serving his country, he joined his father in the family contracting business, Ira R. Stickler and Son for over 60 years. He was also a member of the City Planning and Zoning Board and the current manager of the Lebanon Plaza Mall for over 30 years. Fred was an avid Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, Hershey Bears, and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed bowling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Fred B. Stickler, Jr. and wife, Susan of Lebanon, and Brad R. Stickler and wife, Jenny of Hanover; grandchildren, Nicholas Stickler, Mallory Stickler, Isaac Stickler, and Dalton Stickler; sisters, Jeanette Reed and husband, Ken of Myerstown, Bernetta Hower and husband, Earl of Lebanon, and Rosetta Bennethum of Newmanstown; and sisters-in- law, Hilda Stickler and Jackie Stickler. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry Stickler and Ira Stickler, Jr.; and sisters, Laverne Hartmoyer and Arlene Boltz. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 2 p.m. in the Tabor U.C.C., 124 S. 10th St., Lebanon, where a visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until the time of the service in the church. There will be No viewing. Interment will be made in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the GSH Hospice, Lebanon, PA.
