Sweigert, Jr., 91, died Sunday, September 4, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Helen E. Sanders Sweigert, who died in 2009. Born in Hummelstown, on May 12, 1920, he was the son of the late Harvey E., Sr. and Elsie E. Mull Sweigert. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army's 30th Infantry Division in four campaigns, where he was awarded a purple heart and four bronze stars. Harvey was a very active member of the Sandhill Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he taught Sunday School. He was an ordained minister, enjoyed woodworking in his workshop, and was an avid Phillies fan. Surviving are two sons, Robert D. Sweigert and wife, Sundra of Jonestown, and David P. Sweigert and wife, Sandra of Fawn Grove; two daughters, Phyllis Ann Rittle of Lebanon and Darlene Heist of Annville; sisters, Elsie Krout of Berrysburg, Florence and husband, Harold "Bud" Killinger, II of Annville, and Mary Ellen and husband, Leroy Hummel of Lebanon; brother, James Sweigert and wife, Jackie of Annville; sister, Thelma Allwein of Annville; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by sons, Terry L. Sweigert, Kenneth E. Sweigert, and Jonathan E. Sweigert; and brothers, Bill Schaeffer, Melvin Sweigert, and Ammon Sweigert. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment with full military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
