  Gerald E. "Gerry" Swope 
  
  LEBANON Gerald "Gerry" E. Swope, 82, formerly of Newmanstown, died Wednesday, 
  June 22, 2011, at his residence. Born in Newmanstown, on September 3, 1928, he 
  was the son of the late Josiah and Flossie (Rutter) Swope. He was a graduate of 
  Newmanstown High School and took accounting courses for two years at the 
  Lebanon Business College. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and 
  was the owner/operator of Swope Insurance Agency, Newmanstown, for 30 years 
  until his retirement. He had formerly been active in numerous civic 
  organizations, was an avid Phillies fan, and enjoyed music, reading, and 
  traveling. He is survived by his former wife of 29 years, Nancy Fletcher Swope; 
  daughters, Janeen, wife of Lenn Zeller of Stowe, and Jody Swope, companion of 
  Tom Moceri of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a son, Gregory, husband of Cynthia Swope of 
  Palmyra; sisters, Isabel Gerhard of Lebanon and Mary Ann Smaltz of Lebanon; 
  grandchildren, Carly and Garrett Swope; and several nieces and nephews. He was 
  preceded in death by a sister, June Ebling, and grandson, Derek Swope. A 
  memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 
  W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. There will be no viewing. A visitation will be 
  held Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will be private at Millcreek Memorial 
  Cemetery, Newmanstown. Gerry's family would like to thank the Lebanon County 
  community for the grace they have shown to him in recent years.
