M. shabodeho@aol.com August 14, 2011, 7:38 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on August 10, 2011 Brenda J. Tate BIGLERVILLE Brenda J. Tate, 71, died Monday, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born December 31, 1939, in Lebanon, the daughter of the Jennie Hardenstine Wise and the late Franklin Spotts. In addition to her mother Brenda is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Robert D. Tate, her daughter, Suri Phaungphakdi of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a step-father, Donald E. Wise; a sister, Anita Spotts; three brothers, Frank Spotts, Randy Spotts, David Spotts. She was predeceased by a sister, Donna Paul. Brenda was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Arendtsville. She graduate from South Lebanon High School, received a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University and a Masters degree from Millersburg University. For many years she worked at the Harrisburg Institute of Psychiatry and the mental health unit at the Carlisle Hospital. For the past 35 years Brenda was active in the development of Oakside Community Park. She was also active for 35 years in the National Apple Harvest Festival sponsored by the Upper Adams Jaycee's. Mrs. Tate was a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the Glitzy Gals Red Hats. But most importantly she was loved by many in the community for her ability to listen and understand each person she was involved with. She could make each feel like they were the most important person in the world. A Celebration of her life will be held at her home, 1185 Arendtsville Road, on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher officiating.
