Main St., Belleville, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011, at his home. Born July 12, 1929, in North Lebanon Township, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Edna (Peiffer) Thierwechter. He was united in marriage to Neda (Kreider) Thierwechter on August 12, 1956. Mrs. Thierwechter survives at their home. Also surviving are three sons, John K. Thierwechter and wife, Linda of Chambersburg; David L. Thierwechter and wife, Rebecca of Wellsboro; and Andrew P. Thierwechter and wife, Carrie of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Nicole Burkholder, Bryant Thierwechter, Christina Traxler, Nathaniel Thierwechter, and Severin Thierwechter; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Thierwechter, Summer Traxler and Alyse Traxler; as well as a brother, Glen P. Thierwechter of Bass River, Mass. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Glenn B. Thierwechter. Lee graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1947, from Lebanon Valley College in 1951 and from Penn State University in 1956 with degrees in Biology and Agriculture. He was then honorably discharged from the United States Army, having served as a medic during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He taught agriculture at the Milton Hershey School; he worked for Eastern States Farmers Exchange which later became Agway and most recently he was employed with and retired from the Aid Association for Lutherans. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsville, where he was active in his local congregation as well as the Upper Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. He was a scholar, writer, and teacher of the Pennsylvania German language and culture. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 10 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsville with Pastor James Park Bricker officiating. Interment will take place at Zoar Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Zion. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
