Thompson, 77, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011, at her residence. She was the wife of John P. Thompson. They were married for 56 years. Born in Lebanon, on February 6, 1934, Irene was the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Gogolak) Frazier. She and her husband John owned and operated Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., from 1975 till 2002. She was a 1951 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, traveling, going to casinos, bird watching, watching the Phillies, Eagles and Villanova basketball. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband John are eight children, John P. Jr. husband of Stephanie Thompson of Lebanon, Mary Jo wife of James Miller of Lebanon, Thomas J. Thompson D.M.D. of Lebanon, Frances wife of Christopher Kahl of Myerstown, Andrew husband of Denise Thompson of Palmyra, Robert husband of Janet Thompson of Richmond, Va., Stephen P. husband of Connie Thompson of Lebanon, Carolyn wife of David Bradley of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren, Amy, Stephen, Christopher, Kristin, Heather, Jessica, Erin, Michael, Hanna, Davis, Jordan, Pierce, Megan, Benjamin and Hope; two great- grandchildren, Cali and Braylon; one sister, Mary Lou wife of Edward Klimovsky of Hershey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Fitzpatrick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 1300 Lehman St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9 to 11 at the church.
