Weaver, 89, formerly of Lebanon and Annville, was welcomed into Heaven surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Lancaster County, on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. He was born in Lebanon County, a son of the late Martin Eby and Verda A. (Garber) Weaver. He was the devoted, loving husband of Mabel E. (Breneman) Weaver, to whom he shared 68 years of marriage. An entrepreneur, Marlin had ownership in 12 various businesses over the course of his career. A high school graduate, he was also a Dale Carnegie graduate and took various courses of study over the years pertaining to the various businesses he was involved with, as well as professional association memberships. Marlin was an active member of Gingrichs Mennonite Church, Lebanon, where he served as a chairman of the trustees, building and cemetery committees. He also masterminded 3 generation upgrades to the sound system with his gift of precision. Having a committed interest in Christian camping ministries, Marlin was a founder and board member of the Black Rock Retreat, Quarryville. He was also associated with Luarelville Church Center in Mt. Pleasant, Camp Hebron, Halifax, and Kenbrook Bible Camp, Lebanon. He also was a board member of the Jubilee Ministries of Lebanon, and served on the Board of Trustees at Eastern Mennonite University. He was a past member of the Lebanon Country Club. As an avid golfer, he enjoyed playing on many courses in the tri- county area. He and his wife wintered in Sarasota, Florida for the past 37 years. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, J. Nelson, husband of Christine M. (Schware) Weaver of Lebanon, Donald M., husband of Lori A. (Zeigler) Weaver of Lebanon; daughters, Cheryl L., wife of Benjamin L. Landis of Paradise, DJ, wife of Gerald F. Kling of Smoketown; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, John D., husband of Dorothy A. (Longacre) Weaver of Tannersville, Richard L., husband of Marilyn (Mark) Weaver of Myerstown, and a sister, Ruth E. Stoltzfus of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen E. Showalter, Lois E. Ebersole, and Alice E. Beachy. A viewing and visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., today (Friday, April 29, 2011) at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster. A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, at the church, with Pastor John G. Landis officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Gingrichs Mennonite Church Cemetery, North Cornwall Twp. Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
