M. shabodeho@aol.com March 24, 2011, 8:20 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on March 23, 2011 Martha Weaver LEETONIA, OH Martha Rohrer Groff Weaver, 84, formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth, on Sunday, March 20, 2011, with family at her side. Mrs. Weaver was born June 17, 1926, in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Clayton B. and Mary L. Rohrer Groff and had lived in Leetonia for 3 1/2 years, coming from Lebanon. Before her marriage, she taught in the Pleasant Retreat Elementary School at Reinholds. She was a homemaker and supported her husband in Spanish Missions at home and abroad. She was a member of the Swatara Mennonite Church, Myerstown, and had attended the Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, Leetonia, Ohio. Martha was loved by all who knew her and were drawn by her kindly nature. She endeared herself to both young and old. Her consistent life and testimony will be an inspiration in the lives of many in the years to come. She enjoyed remarkably good health until the past year. She bore her infirmities patiently, placing her trust in her Heavenly Father. She will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband, Elmer P. Weaver, Jr. whom she married June 25, 1950; four daughters, Martha Rose (the late David K.) Weaver of Lena, Wis.,, Mary Ann (Arlin) Miller of Buffalo, Mo., Elizabeth (Leon) Horst of Leetonia, Ohio, and Rachel (Llewellyn) Miller of Doniphan, Mo.; four sons, E. Paul (Miriam) Weaver III of Myerstown, David L. (Marlene) Weaver of Robesonia, Timothy E. (Carolyn) Weaver of Robesonia, and James C. (Twila) Weaver of Fall Creek, Wis.; two brothers, John R. (Louise) Groff of Quarryville; a brother, Elias R. Groff of Holtwood; a step sister, Elsie (Allen) Shirk of Lancaster; 50 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Weaver; a sister, Mary Hershey; two brothers, Aaron R. Groff and Jacob R. Groff; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Swatara Mennonite Church, Myerstown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There was a viewing on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mt. Joy Mennonite Church, Leetonia, Ohio. There is an additional viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swatara Mennonite Church, 10 Camp Swatara Road, Myerstown. Arrangements were made by the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, Ohio and the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home, Jonestown.
