Weik, Jr., 94, of Ephrata Manor Nursing Home, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Born in West Cocalico Township, on August 11, 1916, he was the son of the late Paul and Cora (Oberlin) Weik. Paul was a member of St. Paul's U.C.C., Schaefferstown. After graduating from Denver High School in 1934, he worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills and later at Armstrong in Lancaster. Paul proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. After his discharge in 1945, he and his wife, Violet, owned and operated the Forget-Me-Not Flower Shop in Ephrata for 22 years. In his spare time, Paul loved to work in his garden raising vegetables and flowers. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Violet (Treisch) in August, 2008, to whom he was married 70 years in June 2008; sisters, Edith Huber, Violet Netzley, and Hilda Mentzer; brothers, Clarence and Chester Weik; and grandson, Mark Musser. Paul is survived by three children, Fay Horst of Schaefferstown, Roy, husband of Jane Weik of Denver, and Lorna, wife of Larry Musser of Hamburg; two grandchildren, Meredith Bixler of Hamburg and David Horst of Lebanon; one stepgranddaughter, Lori Bassford of Fairfax of Va.; four great-grandchildren, Cole and Alexis Bixler of Hamburg, and Ryan and Grace Horst of Lebanon; and one step great-granddaughter, Rachel Bassford of Fairfax, Va. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 31, at 11 a.m. at the Ephrata Manor Chapel, 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Mellinger's Cemetery, Schoeneck. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville, is in charge of arrangements.
