Werdt, Sr., 78, departed this life to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 1, 2011, in Orlando, Fla. He was born in Lebanon, on May 23, 1932, to the late Earl R. Werdt and the late Bessie M. Miller. Earl is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Ann of Mims, Fla.; two sons and two daughters, Earl H. Werdt, Jr. and wife, Susi of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Rick R. Werdt and wife, Ruth of Harrisburg, Sandra L. Gould and husband, Joseph of Lebanon, and Susan J. Flowers and husband, Mark Oglesby of Woodstock, Ga. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Alison B. Evans, Monica B. Werdt, and Isabele L. Atwood; and a sister, Pauline Stonecypher of Woodbury, N.J. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Werdt. Earl graduated from Harrison High School and also attended HACC for Business Administration. He retired, after 37 years of service from the New Cumberland Army Depot, Logistics Application Development Division, where he worked as a computer analyst. Earl was a staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army with six years of service including two years of active duty in Korea. He was also a lifetime member and one time Sr. Vice Commander of the Highspire VFW, a member of the Shriners of West Virginia., Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia, a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Florida Sheriff's Assoc., and the NRA. Earl was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, NASCAR, and all sports. His other hobbies included traveling, reading, flea markets, computer, and spending time with family and his many friends. Earl was a compassionate, caring person who donated his time and money to many charitable causes throughout his life and was always willing to help those less fortunate. He was, and forever will be, loved tremendously and will always be deeply missed. Arrangements were made by Funeral Solutions of Cocoa, Fla.
