Wida VACAVILLE, CA Dorothy Alverta Wida, 84, previously of Cornwall, gave up her spirit to be with the Lord on Friday, May 20, 2011, at Emeritus at Vacaville, Calif. She was the wife of the late Andrew P. Wida. She was the second of six children born in rural Rapho Township, Lancaster County, on September 28, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Warren W., Sr. and Sarah L. (Young ) Kline. She graduated from Manheim High School in 1944 and attended Elizabethtown College where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1948. Dorothy held teaching positions at several rural Lancaster County schools before moving on to the Cornwall School District. She spent many years teaching at the former Donaghmore School on Chestnut St. in Lebanon, and then finished her career at the Cornwall Elementary School in Cornwall. Dorothy was an international traveler, having begun with her husband, Andy, and the boys, and in later years with close friends and relatives. She considered herself a very lucky person to have been able to visit and experience so many places in the world. Since her conversion to Catholicism after her marriage in 1948, she had become an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Cornwall and her Christian faith played a major role throughout her life. Dorothy was a member of various Catholic women's organizations, and volunteered for several annual church functions throughout the years. She is survived by two sons, Steve Wida of Fairfield, Calif., and Tom Wida of Easton; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Lorah of Denver, Pa., Faye Kreiser of Palmyra, and Patricia Kline of Surprise, Ariz.; a brother, Warren Kline, Jr. of Manheim; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Kline, Sr. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 2596 Cornwall Road, Cornwall. Interment at Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery, Cornwall. Viewing hours Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church social hall. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to Cornwall School PTO in memory of Dorothy Wida. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
