Winters, 95, of 44 Kindred Place, formerly of Hershey, died Monday, August 8, 2011, in the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. He was the husband of the late Clarice Buechley Winters. Born in Somerset, on December 1, 1915, he was the son of the late James E., Sr. and Nancy Dayton Winters. He was a 1939 graduate of the Pennsylvania Motor Police Class, retiring in 1972 from the Pennsylvania State Police where he served with the Governors Security Detail. James was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and was the last surviving member of Boswell High School Class of 1934. His passion was antique automobiles and he was a member of the Hershey and Pennsylvania Region Antique Automobile Club of America and was the proud sponsor of the annual Winters Racing Award. He was also a member of the Derry Township and Lebanon County Historical Societies and enjoyed traveling abroad and to the 50 states. Surviving are three sons, James E. Winters, III of Lititz, Keith E. Winters of Lititz, and William D. Winters of Middleburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lora Winters and Carol Winters. Services will be held at the convenience of the family with private interment in Somerset County on the Winters' family plot. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
