"Windy" Winters, 89, died on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at VA Medical Center. He was born on Thursday, February 2, 1922, to the late Paul Winters and Emma Winters nee Mease in Lebanon. He worked as a shovel operator for Mallards Quarry for 40+ years. He was a veteran of the Army in World War II. Walter was married for 71 years and retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1981. He was a member of the Annville American Legion. He was involved with the retired Steelworkers Union and served as the trustee on the board. He loved his dog Tulla. Surviving are wife, Arlene V. Winters nee Lehman, Myerstown; sons, Ralph P. spouse of Ethel Hedricks Winters, Myerstown, Ronald W. spouse of Linda D. Hummel Winters, Lebanon; eight grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; brothers, Robert Winters, Earl Winters; sisters Grace Kissner, Pauline Longenecker, Anna Mae Hostetter, Christine Irwin. He was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Winters Freed; sister, Joanne Smith. Viewing will be on Monday, December 12, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville, following the service. Christman's Funeral Home, Inc. is honored to serve the family with the arrangements.
