Wise, who died while serving his country on August 27, 1943, in Wau Province New Guinea, will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be in the Hershey Cemetery following the service. Born in Hershey on August 15, 1912, he was one of thirteen children born to Charles and Juliana (Fasekas) Wise. His eleven siblings who have since died are: Brothers, Charles, Jr., Joseph, Julius, John, Tony, Paul; Sisters, Suzanne Wise, Mary DeSantis, Elizabeth Drobenak, Julia Spitler, and Helen Verdelli. His only surviving sibling is a brother, Lewis Wise and wife, Beatrice of Palmyra. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. While in Hershey, Frank had been employed by the Hershey Chocolate Company. In 1942, at the age of 30, he enlisted in the Army. At the time of his death, he was in Papua New Guinea, an Army Air Corps crew chief, stationed in a jungle being fought over by the Allies and the Japanese. Recent DNA testing has identified and enabled the military to return his remains to be buried with his family. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be given to the benefit of wounded veterans.
