M. shabodeho@aol.com December 17, 2011, 12:01 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on December 12,2011 Eleanor L. Witmeyer ANNVILLE Eleanor Louise Witmeyer, 90, formerly of 210 E. Main St., Annville, died Wednesday December 7, 2011, in the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. Born in Annville, on September 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Carrie Houser Witmeyer. Eleanor was a 1939 graduate of Annville High School, a 1943 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, and later received a Master of Arts degree from Bucknell University. She taught one year in the East Cocalico School District and then in 1944 began her employment with the Annville Township School District. For 35 years she was a social studies teacher and served many years as an advisor to the student council. She was awarded numerous citations-Jaycee Teacher of the Year, Honorary Chapter Farmers Degree, Freedom Foundation of Valley Forge, 1984 LVC Alumni, 1984 Lebanon County Outstanding Educator, and in 2006 the Annville High School Alumni of the Year. Eleanor was a member of the Annville United Methodist Church, its choir and Sunday school Orchestra. Surviving are nieces, Linda, wife of William Boyle and Susan, wife of George Fisher; nephews, John, husband of Susan S. Witmeyer, and Carl, husband of Linda P. Witmeyer; nine grandnieces and nephews; 10 great-grandnieces and nephews. Eleanor was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy and brothers, Carl and Clyde. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Annville United Methodist Church, One North College Ave., Annville, PA 17003 with interment at the convenience of the family in Mt. Annville Cemetery. No viewing or visitation. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
