Yiengst, 100, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, in her residence. She was the wife of George E. Yiengst, who died in 1968. Born in Hamlin, on September 13, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Minnie Gerhart Rudy. Irene grew up on a farm north of Hamlin and loved to tell stories of her farming experiences as a young girl. She worked for Berkshire Mills in Reading as a topper for many years, was part owner of Rudy's Store and Bakery in Fredericksburg, and later worked for Verl's Salads, also in Fredericksburg. Irene was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fredericksburg/Jonestown PBW, Northern Lebanon Senior Citizens, Fredericksburg Lionettes, and the Women of ELCA. She is survived by a son, Neal Yiengst and friend, Barbara Loose of Fredericksburg; and was preceded in death by a stepbrother, Warren, and stepsister, Irene. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home and Crematory, Rt. 72 and Campmeeting Road, Jonestown. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. Public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
