M. shabodeho@aol.com June 30, 2012, 9:38 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 19, 2012 PALMYRA Ben Mitchell Adams, Jr., 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Tuesday, July 18, 1944 in Hershey to the late Ben M. and Sylvia M. (Hainley) Adams, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rachel L. (Shackelford) Adams. He graduated from Hershey High School in 1962, served in the U.S. Air Force active duty and reserve during Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars and received numerous decorations and commendations. He worked for ITT as an electrical technician and Hershey Foods in production. He was a member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church, Campbelltown American Legion, Post 831, and the Annville-Cleona Jaycees. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan, and enjoyed golf. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by five children, Tammie L. Henry and husband Douglas of Middletown, Ben M. Adams, III and wife Denise of Lebanon, Kimberly A. Piotti and husband Joseph of Moorestown, N.J., John B. Adams and wife Nikki of Elizabethtown, and Michelle R. Adams of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Edward Adams, Dale Adams, and Judy Prior. He was predeceased by siblings, Robert Adams and Joanne Robertson. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 21st at 12 noon at Campbelltown United Methodist Church, 2760 Horseshoe Pike, Palmyra, 17078 with Pastor Kerry Bart officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday, June 20th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
