  John E. Arnold Sr. 
  
  LEBANON John E. "Jack" Arnold, Sr., 76, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 
  his residence. He was the husband of Glenda H. (Hummell ) Arnold. They would 
  have been married 57 years on January 29th. Born in Lebanon, on May 12, 1935, 
  John was a son of the late Paul A. and Doris (Reigle) Arnold. He was a 1953 
  graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School and a member of St. Mary's Church, 
  Lebanon. He was an active member of the 12 step program for 35 years. He was a 
  U.S. Navy veteran having served aboard the Icebreaker USS Glacier and made two 
  trips to the South Pole to help build "Little America" with admiral Byrd. He 
  was retired from the former Cleaver Brooks Corporation and worked part-time 
  for the municipal building for five years. In addition to his wife Glenda, he 
  is survived by two sons, Michael A. and Paul H. Arnold; two grandchildren, 
  Cameron and Franklin Arnold; one great-granddaughter, Sophia J. Arnold; two 
  sisters, Susanne Matula-Awan and Faye, wife of Charlie Frantzalso, all of 
  Lebanon; also numerous nieces, nephews, friends and cousins. He was preceded 
  in death by a son, John E. Arnold, Jr. Funeral Mass Friday 10 a.m. at St. 
  Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon, 17046. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. at 
  the church. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the 
  family.  Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with the arrangements.
