  PALMYRA James Haak Boyer, born in Lebanon on May 19, 1925, died peacefully 
  surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in the Palmyra Nursing 
  Home, at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Lloyd W. and Anna Haak 
  Boyer. Jim attended Lebanon High School as well as Staunton Military Academy 
  in Staunton, Va. and was a graduate of Rider College, where he met his loving 
  wife of 63 years, Claire Boyer who predeceased him in 2010. He was a longtime 
  resident of Lebanon where he was an active member of the community, serving on 
  boards of the Quality Inn, The Lebanon Country Club, Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 
  and the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, as well as participating in 
  numerous organizations-the ELKS, Jaycees, VFW, and Sertoma. Jim was a 
  decorated World War II veteran (Purple Heart and Bronze Star) and served under 
  the 87th Division of the U.S. Army in Europe until he was wounded in the 
  Battle of the Bulge. After graduating from Rider in 1949, he returned to his 
  hometown where he worked in the family business, Boyer Printing, eventually 
  becoming the President until his retirement in 1992. Jim was a witty, fun-
  loving and a kind friend and true gentleman to many. He enjoyed golf, playing 
  gin rummy with the "boys" and a good martini. He was a genuine hero and real 
  patriot who truly loved his country and family. Jim is survived by three sons, 
  James, Jr. of Danville, Calif., Michael of Campbelltown, and Stephan husband 
  of Michele Boyer of Campbelltown: a daughter Amy of Hilton Head, S.C.; nine 
  grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, 
  Claire and his sister, Jane Boyer Parker. Funeral services will be held on 
  Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main 
  St., Annville, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. 
  Interment will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military 
  Honors at the convenience of the family.
