Burton SHIPPENSBURG Robert Paul Burton, 91, formerly of Palmyra, died on Monday, January 16, 2012, at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born Wednesday, May 12, 1920, in Alligator, Miss., the youngest child of the late John Thomas Burton and Rosa Kinard (Wyse) Burton. Bob graduated from Duncan High School in 1937 and attended business school in Bowling Green, Ky., for one year. He started his first job as an office boy at True Temper Corp. in 1938. He retired from the same company as Plant Manager in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Marguerite (Williams) Burton, to whom he was married for 67 years at the time of her death in 2006. Bob is survived by his daughter, Sheila Malone of Walnut Bottom; his son, Robert Paul Burton, Jr. and his wife, Virginia (Gene) of Jefferson, Ohio; and a grandson, Christopher Alan Malone. Bob was preceded in death by his six siblings. Bob, like his wife before him, donated his body to medical science through the Humanity's Gift Program. Professional arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg.
