He was born in Lock Haven, on December 2, 1923, to Walter Laughlin and Mary Sabina Croak. Raymond came to Hershey in 1929 when he entered the Hershey Industrial School. He graduated from there in 1942. Upon finishing school he was employed by the Hershey Lumber Company in the furniture making shop until he entered the U.S. Navy in 1943. When Raymond returned from the Navy he continued to work for the Hershey Lumber Company as a cabinet maker until it closed. He then was employed and retired from Hershey Foods. Raymond was a member of the American Legion Hershey Post 386 for 48 years, a life-time member of the Elstonville Sportsmans Club, and an avid fisherman and hunter. Raymond, as a former member of the Milton Hershey School Glee Club, had a great love for music. He also was an avid reader and as his eyesight failed, he was able to continue this with books on tape. One of his other favorite pastimes was talking with people, and he was often engaged in telling jokes, stories, and "tall tales" to loved ones and friends. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Theresa (Ortenzi) Croak; his daughter, RaeAnn (William) MacIntyre; and his son, John (Sheila) Croak. He is also survived by a grandson, William (Katie) MacIntyre; a granddaughter, Kelly MacIntyre; and great-grandson, Peter Raymond MacIntyre. Visitation will be held at the Hoover Funeral Home, Hershey, on Monday, August 13 at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Hershey Cemetery after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Raymond's name to the Tri-County Association for the Blind, Harrisburg, Pa.
