M shabodeho@aol.com September 16, 2012, 10:24 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on September 7, 2012 LEBANON Elizabeth Sattazahn Davis, 92, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Cornwall Manor after a year long illness. She was a homemaker, social worker, teacher, and the loving wife of James K. Davis for 64 years. Jim predeceased her on February 16, 2012. Born and raised in Lebanon, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Margie and Lloyd Sattazahn. She graduated from Lebanon Valley College in 1942, after which she taught high school history in the Berks County School District. From 1944 to 1950, Libby was a Social Worker with the Family and Children's Service of Lebanon County. She attended the University of Pennsylvania where she completed her requirements in the School of Social Work Education. After her marriage on September 11, 1948 to Jim, she pursued her career as a wife, mother, and community volunteer. She was active in United Way, Easter Seal Foundation fundraising, and a member and officer of the Women's Club of Lebanon. She served as President and member of the Oakview (Nursing Home) Board, and a member of the Community Association Concert Board of Cornwall Manor and the Lebanon Community Concert Association Board. Libby and Jim were active LVC alumni and were members of the Vickroy Society for many years. A lifelong member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Libby served as President of the Women's Society of World Service, Junior Superintendent, President of the Chancel Guild, Sunday School teacher, VBS leader, member of the Senior Choir, and one of the founders of the VISTAS educational program for community members. Surviving is a son, Peter (husband of Sarah) in California, and Anne (wife of Don) Griswold of Lancaster, and four grandchildren, Margaret, Matthew, Abby (wife of Ryan Butt) and Rich (husband of Heather Crandall) and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Butt. Her sister, Nancy Hoff resides in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Elizabeth's name to the Lebanon Valley College Development Office, Annville, Pa., in support of scholarships. A Memorial service will be held for her in Levi Zerr Chapel, Cornwall Manor, on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Family members will greet everyone following the service. All are invited to stay for a light lunch. There will be a private family interment. The Rohland Funeral Home Inc. is handling the arrangements.
