Hershey Medical Center. She was born in Hershey on December 27, 1933 to the late Roy and Anna (Horner) Hovis; graduated from Hershey High School in 1951 and Hershey Junior College in 1953. Doris worked as an administrative assistant for Hershey Foods; secretary of the First United Methodist Church in Hershey; and secretary of the Antique Automobile Club of America where she also served as editor of their magazine. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hershey and Palmyra Chapter #402 Order of the Eastern Star. Doris is survived by her husband, Harold G. Engle, Jr.; daughter, Susan Engle of Washington Crossing; son, Glenn Engle and wife Yoko of Honolulu, Hawaii; sister, Barbara McCarthy and husband Francis of Hershey; brother, Edward Hovis of Newark, Del.; four grandchildren, Kristin Carney of Lincoln, Neb., David Carney of Worcester, Mass., Shawn Engle of San Diego, Calif., and Sandy Engle at the Oregon State University; a nephew and niece, Kevin and Karen McCarthy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Ave., in Hershey with the Rev. Dr. Gary D. Weaver and Rev. Karen W. Atanasoff, officiating. Friends will be received at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Hershey Cemetery.
