Haldeman ANNVILLE Aaron Snavely Haldeman, 87, passed away peacefully at Countryside Christian Community, on Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was married 35 years to his loving wife Grace Elizabeth Haldeman, who passed away in 1983. He then spent 17 loving years with his wife Pauline (Breidenstine) Haldeman. He was born Thursday, June 5, 1924, in Conewago Township to the late Bejamin W. and Barbara O. (Snavely) Haldeman. Aaron was an active member of the Conewago Church of the Brethren, where he served 46 years as a deacon. He was one of the founding partners of the Brookside Hunting Camp. In his young adult life he worked as a Seagoing Cowboy on a cattle ship, shipping cattle from the U.S. to Europe after WWII. He later worked as a manager for Agway, and most recently was employed by the Manheim Auto Auction. Aaron enjoyed gardening, traveling, hunting, and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his wife Pauline Haldeman of Annville, he is survived by a son, Melvin Haldeman of South Annville; step children, Dean May and wife Diane, Carol Case and husband George, and Marilyn Pooley; grandchildren, Luke Haldeman and Hannah Haldeman and fiance Steve Dove; step grandchildren, DJ, Robert, Andrea, and Allyna May, Beverly Conner, and Dana Kennedy; a great-grandson Carter Haldeman; step great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Dove, Everett Kennedy, and Echo McKay; and siblings, Henry, John, and Samuel Haldeman, Alice Grady, and Sarah Lehman. In addition to his first wife, Grace E. Haldeman, he is predeceased by an infant brother, David Haldeman. A viewing will be held on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Road, Hershey, PA 17033 with Pastor Scott Cooper officiating. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery, Mount Joy. Annville, PA 17003.
