Hand , 51, of 15 2nd St., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 5, 2012, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. (Wolfe) Hand, to whom he was married 27 years. He was born on Tuesday, November 8, 1960, in Lykens, a son of Kathryn M. Hoffman Hand of Hegins, and the late Gene W Hand. He was employed by Farmer's Pride Poultry Plant, Fredericksburg. He was also a Deputy Conservation Officer for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. He was a member of the Church of God, Valley View and a member of Pheasants Forever. John was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Billy G. Hand. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by a son, Christopher J. Hand of Valley View; three daughters, Laura L. Chamberlain and her husband, Kent of Pine Grove, Bethany L. Hand of Valley View, and Emily M. Hand of Sacramento; a brother, David J. Hand of Hegins; and a sister, Carole M. Riehl of Dayton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at the Church of God, Valley View, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald Frey officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be made in Church of God Cemetery, Valley View. Buffington- Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
