M. shabodeho@aol.com August 2, 2012, 8:47 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on July 10, 2012 HUMMELSTOWN Dr. Warren Earl Howard Edu, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 7, 2012. He was born on Thursday September 10, 1936 in Hershey, to the late Arthur and Mary (Hummer) Howard. He is survived by his companion, Sue O'Connell Nelms. Warren was the Superintendent for Big Spring and Johnstown school districts. He was a member of Union Deposit United Methodist Church, NRA, and PA Fruit Growers Association. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around sportsman. Warren enjoyed farming, gardening, and woodworking. He owned Thoroughbred horses and loved all animals, often supporting organizations like the Humane League. He was a humanitarian having sponsored several children through worldwide organizations. Most importantly he was a loving family man. He is survived by a brother, Bruce Howard; a niece, Jo Marie Stravinskas and husband Joseph; nine great-nieces and nephews, Jamie Newhouse, Jessica Koser, Robert and Cole Boudreau, Katie and Nick Stravinskas, Derick and Lyndsey O'Connell, Skyler Gownley; five great-great-nieces and nephews, Blake, Aubrie and Clayton Koser, Raylan Boudreau, and Peyton O'Connell; and a K9 companion, Heidi Van Howard. He was preceded in death by his niece, Susan Boudreau. Family and friends are invited for viewing on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Union Deposit United Methodist Church, 34 W. Main St., Hershey 17033 with Pastor Gail Boyer officiating, with viewing from 9 a.m. until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hershey Cemetery, Hershey. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the NRA Foundation.
