"Girl" Hower, 76, died on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Palmyra Nursing Home as she was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Saturday, November 9, 1935, to the late Ira R. Stickler, Sr. and Katie Stickler nee Brubaker in Lebanon. She worked as a nursing assistant. She loved the Lord. Bernetta loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, and made blankets for her family. She also coached softball and was a boy scout leader. Surviving are son, Richard E. Hower; daughter, Cindy Hower; son, Michael S., spouse of Tammy Hower; daughters, Jean Taylor and Joan Hower; 11 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and sisters, Jeanette Reed and Rosetta Bennethum. She was preceded in death by husband, Earl Hower; three brothers; and two sisters. Memorial services will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 9 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Committal services will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
