"Chink" Hower, 80, died on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at VA Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, June 9, 1931, to the late David P. Hower, Sr. and Helen Hower nee Rhen in Lebanon. He served the Lord and was a member of Bible Fellowship Church. He was a veteran of the Army in the Korean War. Earl retired from the VA Hospital and GSH as a nursing assistant. He loved his family and was considered the mayor of Elmcroft. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and his Friday gatherings at Burger King, McDonalds, and KMart. Earl enjoyed people and people enjoyed his company as well. Surviving are wife of 55 years, Bernetta Hower nee Stickler; son, Richard, spouse of Lori Hower; daughter, Cindy Hower; son, Michael, spouse of Tammy Hower; daughters, Joan Hower and Jean Taylor; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond Hower, Robert Hower, Ernest Hower, and James Hower; sister, Delores Hassler; and stepbrother, Donald Hower. He was preceded in death by brother, David P. Hower, Jr. Viewing will be on Monday, January 9, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bible Fellowship Church, 1635 Mill Road, Lebanon. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following the service.
